Money-Making Hobbies for Stay-at-Home Moms (That Actually Make Sense)

by Alison Leave a Comment

Money-Making Hobbies for Stay-at-Home Moms

Let’s be honest for a minute. Money-Making Hobbies for Stay-at-Home Moms is totally POSSIBLE.

However, staying home with your kids is a full-time job. It is emotional labour, physical labour, mental labour… and somehow you still have a million things to do.

But it doesn’t come with a paycheck.

And while many moms genuinely love being home, there’s often this quiet thought in the background:

“It would be really nice to bring in some extra money.”

Not because you’re ungrateful, but because having financial margin feels peaceful.

So today, I want to talk about money-making hobbies for stay-at-home moms — ideas that feel creative, doable, and aligned with real life.

Some are hands-on and crafty.
Some are digital and flexible.
Some can grow into full businesses if you want them to.

And no — not all of these are “quick money.” But they are real ways of making money.

Let’s dive in.

***This post might contain affiliate links, but it won’t cost you anything extra. I only recommend products that I know and love.***

1. Selling Custom T-Shirts (Simple, Scalable, Profitable)

You would be shocked how many people build real income selling t-shirts.

And I’m not talking about buying inventory and filling your garage.

You can:

  • Create designs digitally
  • Use print-on-demand services
  • Sell through Etsy, Shopify, or even TikTok Shop

If you have a sense of humor, love scripture quotes, mom-life sayings, or niche designs (think homeschool moms, gym girls, faith-based women), this can become very profitable.

I personally know someone who started this as a side hobby… and ended up quitting their 9–5 because it paid more.

That’s the kind of “hobby” we like.

2. Faceless Digital Marketing (No Camera Required)

how to make money online

This one is HUGE right now.

If you don’t want your face all over the internet but love the idea of online income, faceless digital marketing is such a beautiful option.

You can:

  • Promote products you love through affiliate marketing
  • Build Pinterest pages
  • Run TikTok accounts without showing your face
  • Sell digital products

You don’t need to be an influencer. You don’t need to dance on camera. You need strategy.

This is one of the most flexible options for moms because you can work during nap time or after bedtime — and it scales.

I made $3k in my first 2 and a half months of starting. You can read all about how to get started HERE.

3. Blogging (Still One of My Favorites)

Yes, blogging still works.

A blog is simply a website where you share what you know — motherhood, budgeting, faith, recipes, routines, thrifting, homeschooling, wellness.

And you can monetize it through:

  • Affiliate links
  • Ads
  • Digital products
  • Sponsored posts

The beauty of blogging is that it grows over time. One post can make money for years.

It’s not instant — but it’s powerful.

I wrote all about how to get started here.

4. TikTok Shop + Affiliate Marketing

TikTok is still one of the fastest ways to monetize as a beginner.

You can:

  • Promote products through TikTok Shop
  • Earn commission on things you already use
  • Create simple, relatable videos

You don’t need 100k followers. You need consistency and good product positioning.

This works especially well if you love reviewing things, sharing favorites, or showing “real mom life.”

The best course I have found on how to make money on TikTok is ‘Scroll to Sold‘ it’s the only course you need to learn how stay-at-home moms are making thousands a month.

5. Reselling & Thrifting (If You Love the Hunt)

If you already love thrifting, why not turn that skill into income?

You can:

  • Find name-brand pieces and resell them
  • Flip furniture
  • Curate vintage bundles
  • Resell baby items

Some moms make serious side income just by having a good eye.

If you enjoy treasure hunting, this doesn’t feel like work.

A friend of mine found a vintage Star Wars t-shirt at a garage sale and sold it online for over $400!

This is one of many totally possible money-making Hobbies for Stay-at-Home Moms!

6. Selling Digital Products

This is one of my favorite models because it scales.

You could create:

  • Budget planners
  • Scripture journals
  • Meal planners
  • Kids chore charts
  • Printable wall art
  • Homeschool resources

You make it once. You sell it again and again.

No inventory. No shipping.

7. Soap, Candles & Bath Products (High Demand, Repeat Buyers)

Money-Making Hobbies for Stay-at-Home Moms

Handmade soap, bath bombs, scrubs, and candles sell beautifully — especially at markets or online.

My mum makes goat milk soap from her own goats and brings in a steady side income. And the best part? Once you perfect a recipe, it’s repeatable.

These products are consumable — which means customers come back.

That’s smart business.

8. Jewelry or Handmade Accessories

If you have an eye for style, this is such a lovely hobby to monetize.

The key is creating a clear style so people recognize your brand.

You can sell:

  • Minimalist jewelry
  • Statement pieces
  • Faith-based designs
  • Personalized items

It takes patience — but it builds loyal customers.

9. Teaching What You Already Know

You don’t have to reinvent the wheel.

You could:

  • Tutor online
  • Teach music lessons
  • Host crochet classes
  • Teach baking
  • Offer budgeting workshops

There are platforms now where you can teach virtually, which means no childcare needed.

If you already know something — someone else wants to learn it.

10. Growing & Selling Produce or Flowers

Money-Making Hobbies for Stay-at-Home Moms

If you have land or even a small garden, you can sell:

  • Fresh eggs
  • Vegetables
  • Herbs
  • Cut flowers

Flowers especially are underrated. A small bouquet subscription in your neighborhood? That’s beautiful and profitable.

And there’s something deeply satisfying about earning from what you grow.

Let’s Talk Realistic Expectations

Not every hobby will become a six-figure business.

But here’s the thing — it doesn’t have to.

Maybe it:

  • Pays for groceries
  • Covers a car payment
  • Builds your savings
  • Funds family holidays
  • Gives you financial confidence

That matters.

As a Stay-at-Home Mum, You Are Not “Just” Anything

You are not “just” staying home.
You are building humans, but you are also allowed to build income.

Whether you lean creative, strategic, digital, or hands-on — there is something here that could work for you.

Start small.
Pick one thing.
Stay consistent.

And let it grow.

Because having financial margin while staying present with your kids?

That is a beautiful thing. 🤍

AMSTERDAM 🌷🇳🇱 What an experience! It was so beauti AMSTERDAM 🌷🇳🇱
What an experience! It was so beautiful and interesting. Filled with so much history, breathtaking architecture and weeds and nudity…

What a combination.

My family roots are 100% Dutch. It’s my grandparents home from both sides. It’s special to me and I loved being there. But the spiritual darkness that is there is real.

Who else has been and what was your experience?

8 years ago I moved abroad to the US from Australi 8 years ago I moved abroad to the US from Australia.
And 2 months ago my husband, dog and I moved to Germany. 🇩🇪

So what’s next for us? ✨

-I am learning German, it’s hard so feel free to encourage me lol

-I won’t be able to work for a while so I’m LIVING IT UP (mostly with pastries)

-Aldrin has some interviews coming up for work (he is German so he can start working straight away)

-We are living with friends, in their built out attic and it has been the best way to start in a foreign country - instant community, pizza nights, bbq’s etc..

-We are loving being a part of a smaller Church, feels already like family

-In a few months we will start looking for our own place, which will make it feel real that this Country is home

-Attainable travel in Europe is a dream come true and I’ll be sharing it all!

-We feel so privileged and blessed to be living in our 3rd Country together 🇦🇺🇺🇸🇩🇪

-Big life transitions are hard (miss family and friends everyday) but thankfulness has been the key for us

-Lastly, Aldrins cousin made us a cake to welcome us here to Germany from Australia and then the US🥹 what is my life?!

THINGS I WISH I’D KNOWN BEFORE IMMIGRATING TO THE THINGS I WISH I’D KNOWN BEFORE IMMIGRATING TO THE USA 🇺🇸 FROM AUSTRALIA 🇦🇺
⬇️
-Marrying a permanent resident is NOT the same as marrying a US Citizen. It took me 2 years to be allowed back into the US. Marrying a citizen is much faster, knowing that in advance would have been helpful lol 😑

-Every state in the US is almost like a different Country, they have their own culture and laws, unlike Australia where they are much more similar

-Public transport is so different in the US (unless you live in a major City.) So many people I know there have never been on a train before 🤯

-Not having free medical insurance is just like in the movies, it’s hard to plan financially and save, I’ll forever be grateful for Australia’s medical system

-The work/life balance is probably my least favourite things about living in the US. US employees are actually not always legally entitled to paid holidays, but on average employees do provide on average around 5-10 paid vacation days a year.

-Thanksgiving is the best! We love it and want to incorporate it into our traditions 🦃

-Writing dates backwards I am used to now, but it took forever! My birthday is 28/7 but in the US it is 7/28…

-Americans are sO good at championing each other and celebrating peoples success, it’s such a beautiful part of their culture! 🙌🏼

-Squirels look just like they do in the cartoons 🐿️

-Lastly, don’t ask for a side of ‘chips’ with your burger, you will be disappointed 😆
