40 New Month Reflection Journal Prompts

by Alison Leave a Comment

new month reflection journal prompts

To Help You Grow Closer To God, Yourself, And The Life Youโ€™re Building

There is something special about the end of a month. It’s the perfect time for new month reflection journal prompts.

Itโ€™s a quiet little invitation to pause. Before rushing into another calendar page, another list of goals, another season of trying to โ€œdo more,โ€ there is an opportunity to simply sit with yourself and ask:

Who am I becoming?

I love to sit down on the last sunday of the month and really reflect on the past month and start thinking about the next. If you do this every month, that’s 12 times a year that you will intentionally make space for God to speak into each month.

God often shows up and speaks to me when I am in this time of reflection and when he shares something new, or profound for the next month, it makes me show up differently, more purposeful and zoned in.

These reflection times are not to just reflect on how much you accomplished, how many goals you hit, how productive you were, or how perfectly you followed your plans. It’s actually about your relationship with God.

Itโ€™s about becoming more intentional with your time, your energy, your relationships, your dreams, and the purpose He has placed inside of you.

A monthly reset isnโ€™t about looking back with shame and criticizing everything you didnโ€™t do.

Itโ€™s about celebrating what God carried you through, recognizing where you need to grow, and allowing Him to guide you into the next season.

Think of this as your monthly meeting with yourself and the Lord.

A time to reflect, surrender, and realign.

Grab your favorite drink, your journal, a quiet space, and spend some intentional time answering these new month reflection journal prompts.

Part One: Reflecting On The Month Behind You

Before you plan your next month, honor the one you just lived.

Sometimes we are so focused on where we are going that we forget to recognize how far God has already brought us.

1. What are three things I am grateful for from this month?

2. Where did I see God working in my life?

3. What prayer did God answer, even if it looked different than I expected?

4. What was one unexpected blessing this month?

5. What moment from this month do I want to remember forever?

6. What challenged me the most?

7. What did that challenge teach me?

8. Where did I grow emotionally, spiritually, mentally, or personally?

9. What did I handle better than the old version of me would have?

10. What accomplishment am I proud of?

Part Two: My Faith Check-In

Growth starts with your relationship with God.

Before asking God to bless your plans, take time to make sure your heart is connected to Him.

11. How did I make space for God this month?

12. Did I prioritize time with Him, or did I allow busyness to take over?

13. What Scripture spoke to me recently?

14. What is God currently teaching me?

15. What area of my life do I need to surrender more fully to Him?

16. Where have I been trying to control things instead of trusting God?

17. What fear do I need to release?

18. What lie have I been believing that Godโ€™s truth replaces?

19. How can I grow deeper in my faith next month?

20. What prayer do I want to carry into the next season?

Remember: your worth is not measured by your productivity.

Your identity is not found in your accomplishments.

You are already loved and chosen by God before you achieve anything.

Journaling prompts for the new month!

Part Three: Becoming The Woman God Is Calling Me To Be

A reset is not only about what you want to accomplish.

Itโ€™s about who you want to become.

21. What kind of woman do I want to become?

22. What qualities do I admire in women of faith that I want to develop?

23. Where am I settling when I know Iโ€™m called to grow?

24. What habits are helping me become the person I want to be?

25. What habits are keeping me stuck?

26. What do I need to say no to in order to protect what God has called me to?

27. What boundaries do I need to create?

28. What would the most peaceful version of me prioritize?

29. What would the most confident version of me stop worrying about?

30. What would I do differently if I fully trusted Godโ€™s timing?

Part Four: Looking At My Goals And Dreams

Goals are beautiful when they are surrendered to God.

Your dreams matter because God can use your gifts, creativity, and obedience to impact others.

But the goal is not just success. The goal is purpose.

31. What did I accomplish this month?

32. What goals did I not complete?

33. Why do I think those goals werenโ€™t completed?

34. Do my goals still align with the season I am currently in?

35. What is one thing I want to improve next month?

36. What is one area where I want to be more intentional?

37. What goals am I praying over for next month?

38. What action steps will move me closer to those goals?

39. How can I invite God into my plans instead of only asking Him to bless them?

40. Be still, and ask God what He is saying about this next month

My Monthly Reset Prayer

Lord,

Thank You for carrying me through this month. Thank You for the moments of growth, the lessons, the blessings, and even the challenges I experienced.

Help me release the pressure to have everything figured out. Help me trust Your timing.

Show me where I need to grow, where I need to surrender, and where I need to step forward boldly.

Give me wisdom for the goals ahead, peace for the things I cannot control, and courage to walk in the purpose You have placed over my life. Show me how to have you be a part of every moment this coming month.

Help me become more like You.

Amen.

If we are passively just going along with what’s happening in our life, we aren’t stepping up to be the women God created us to be. The ones where we know what god has made available to us, and we step up, take authority and move what needs to be moved. We have responsibility, power and purpose and we cannot just wait around and be passive.

The woman you are becoming is built one intentional decision at a time. So take the time to reflect.

Celebrate what God has done. Learn from what didnโ€™t go as planned. And step into the next month with faith, confidence, and an open heart.

Because each month can build and be better than the last. I hope these new month reflection journal prompts were helpful. x

What an experience! It was so beautiful and interesting. Filled with so much history, breathtaking architecture and weeds and nudityโ€ฆ

What a combination.

My family roots are 100% Dutch. Itโ€™s my grandparents home from both sides. Itโ€™s special to me and I loved being there. But the spiritual darkness that is there is real.

8 years ago I moved abroad to the US from Australi 8 years ago I moved abroad to the US from Australia.
And 2 months ago my husband, dog and I moved to Germany. ๐Ÿ‡ฉ๐Ÿ‡ช

So whatโ€™s next for us? โœจ

-I am learning German, itโ€™s hard so feel free to encourage me lol

-I wonโ€™t be able to work for a while so Iโ€™m LIVING IT UP (mostly with pastries)

-Aldrin has some interviews coming up for work (he is German so he can start working straight away)

-We are living with friends, in their built out attic and it has been the best way to start in a foreign country - instant community, pizza nights, bbqโ€™s etc..

-We are loving being a part of a smaller Church, feels already like family

-In a few months we will start looking for our own place, which will make it feel real that this Country is home

-Attainable travel in Europe is a dream come true and Iโ€™ll be sharing it all!

-We feel so privileged and blessed to be living in our 3rd Country together ๐Ÿ‡ฆ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ‡ฉ๐Ÿ‡ช

-Big life transitions are hard (miss family and friends everyday) but thankfulness has been the key for us

-Lastly, Aldrins cousin made us a cake to welcome us here to Germany from Australia and then the US๐Ÿฅน what is my life?!

-Marrying a permanent resident is NOT the same as marrying a US Citizen. It took me 2 years to be allowed back into the US. Marrying a citizen is much faster, knowing that in advance would have been helpful lol ๐Ÿ˜‘

-Every state in the US is almost like a different Country, they have their own culture and laws, unlike Australia where they are much more similar

-Public transport is so different in the US (unless you live in a major City.) So many people I know there have never been on a train before ๐Ÿคฏ

-Not having free medical insurance is just like in the movies, itโ€™s hard to plan financially and save, Iโ€™ll forever be grateful for Australiaโ€™s medical system

-The work/life balance is probably my least favourite things about living in the US. US employees are actually not always legally entitled to paid holidays, but on average employees do provide on average around 5-10 paid vacation days a year.

-Thanksgiving is the best! We love it and want to incorporate it into our traditions ๐Ÿฆƒ

-Writing dates backwards I am used to now, but it took forever! My birthday is 28/7 but in the US it is 7/28โ€ฆ

-Americans are sO good at championing each other and celebrating peoples success, itโ€™s such a beautiful part of their culture! ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿผ

-Squirels look just like they do in the cartoons ๐Ÿฟ๏ธ

-Lastly, donโ€™t ask for a side of โ€˜chipsโ€™ with your burger, you will be disappointed ๐Ÿ˜†
