Christian Girl Habits for a Peaceful, Faith-Filled Life

Christian Girl Habits for a Peaceful, Faith-Filled Life

I know how easy it is to skip days, and not spend time with God and in the Word. But I have also noticed those days are the ones that feel the most overwhelmed and out of balance, something just feels off.

It’s so important to spend time in the Word and create habits that are built around this.

It doesn’t have to be perfect, you don’t need endless free time.

You just need to make realistic space, to prioritise time with the lord.

I think that’s something many of us are craving right now.

Life feels noisy. Our phones are constantly buzzing. There is always another notification, another email, another thing to worry about. It’s easy to spend the entire day consuming information and still feel spiritually empty.

The reality is that we become whatever we consistently spend time with.

If we’re constantly consuming fear, we’ll become fearful.

If we’re constantly consuming negativity, we’ll become negative.

But if we’re consistently spending time in God’s Word, our minds begin to change. We begin thinking differently. We begin responding differently. We begin seeing situations through God’s perspective instead of our own (this is KEY!)

That’s why healthy Christian habits matter so much.

Not because habits save us.

But because habits help us create space for a relationship with God.

Why God’s Word Has To Be A Priority

How to Thrive in Faith During a Financially Difficult Season (Trusting God as Your Provider)

One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that you cannot build a strong faith on occasional Bible reading.

Just like you wouldn’t expect to be physically healthy by eating one meal a week, you can’t expect to grow spiritually if God’s Word only becomes a priority when life falls apart.

The Bible says:

“Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” — Romans 10:17

Notice that faith doesn’t come from positive thinking, wishing things would improve, or even spending time only in prayer.

Faith comes from hearing God’s Word.

Andrew Wommack often teaches that the Word of God is like a seed. Every promise, every breakthrough, every area of growth starts with planting God’s Word in our hearts. A seed doesn’t produce fruit overnight, but when it’s planted consistently and protected, growth eventually follows.

I love that picture because it’s exactly how faith works.

Many of us want the fruit, but we forget to plant the seed.

We want peace, confidence, direction and wisdom.

But all of those things begin with spending time in God’s Word.

The Secret to Building Christian Habits That Last

Most people make spiritual growth much harder than it needs to be.

They decide they’re going to wake up at 5am, read ten chapters of the Bible, journal for an hour, pray for another hour, listen to a sermon, and memorize Scripture every day.

Three days later they’re exhausted and discouraged.

Instead, start small.

A healthy quiet time could simply look like:

  • Reading one chapter of the Bible
  • Writing down one verse that stood out
  • Spending five minutes praying
  • Thanking God for three things

Consistency matters more than intensity. The goal isn’t to impress God.

The goal is to build a relationship with Him.

Small habits repeated daily create transformation over time. I have also found that the more time you spend with God, the more you actually want to do it.

Create Habits Around Things You Already Do

One of the easiest ways to stay consistent is to connect Bible study to routines you already have.

You could:

  • Read your Bible while drinking your morning coffee.
  • Listen to a Christian podcast while driving.
  • Pray during your daily walk.
  • Read one Psalm before checking social media.
  • Listen to Scripture before bed.

The more you connect faith habits to existing routines, the easier they become to maintain.

Eventually they stop feeling like another thing on your to-do list and simply become part of your life.

Faith-Filled Productivity

Protect Your Attention

If we’re being honest, one of the biggest obstacles to spending time with God isn’t a lack of time.

It’s distraction. We have never had so many distractions before, all pulling us away from spending time with God.

Most of us reach for our phones before we reach for our Bibles.

Before we’ve even started our day, we’ve already consumed dozens of opinions, messages, headlines, and notifications.

One simple habit that can make a huge difference is:

Bible before phone.

Before Instagram.

Before emails.

Before the news.

Before messages.

Start your day hearing God’s voice before everyone else’s.

That one habit alone can completely change the tone of your day.

Building faith in God is to have His Word in us so thoroughly that when we hear

Faith Tools for Daily Quiet Time

While no product can replace time with God, there are definitely tools that can help make quiet time more enjoyable and consistent.

A beautiful Bible that you love opening can make a difference. Journaling Bibles are wonderful if you enjoy taking notes and highlighting verses. Study Bibles can help you understand Scripture more deeply, while a compact Bible is perfect for carrying with you throughout the day.

Devotionals can also be a helpful addition. I always view devotionals as a supplement to Scripture, not a replacement for it. The Bible should always be the main focus, but devotionals can provide encouragement and practical application.

A faith journal is another one of my favorite tools. Writing down prayers, Scriptures, lessons God is teaching you, and answered prayers creates a beautiful record of God’s faithfulness over time.

Here are some of my favourites:

Christian Self-Care & Faith-Based Habits

I think Christian self-care often gets misunderstood.

Biblical self-care isn’t about constantly focusing on ourselves.

It’s about creating habits that help us stay spiritually healthy, emotionally healthy, and connected to God.

Some simple tools that support this include Bible affirmation cards, prayer cards, thankfulness journals, Christian podcasts, worship playlists, and meaningful jewelry that reminds you of your faith throughout the day.

These little reminders can help bring your attention back to God during busy days.

There is something beautiful about creating a home environment that feels peaceful.

Because a quiet, cozy space to spend time with the Lord is as peaceful as it comes.

One of my favorite things is creating small moments throughout the day that encourage me to slow down and enjoy God’s presence.

A cozy blanket, a beautiful mug, soft lighting, a candle, fresh flowers, a comfortable reading chair, or a quiet corner for Bible study can all help make quiet time something you genuinely look forward to.

Enjoying the little moments with the Lord is something worth cultivating.

Faith-Filled Mindset & Personal Growth

The Bible tells us to renew our minds.

That doesn’t happen accidentally.

It happens intentionally.

Reading Christian books, setting faith goals, creating vision boards centered around God’s plans, tracking habits, and regularly reflecting on what God is teaching you can all help keep your mind focused on things that matter.

I personally love keeping track of prayers, goals, dreams, and Scriptures I’m standing on. Looking back and seeing God’s faithfulness over time is incredibly encouraging.

Wellness & Health

Sometimes we separate our spiritual life from our physical life, but God cares about both.

Taking care of your body is stewardship.

Simple habits like prioritizing sleep, drinking more water, moving your body, reducing stress, spending time outside, and nourishing yourself well can all help support your overall wellbeing.

I also think one of the healthiest habits a Christian woman can build is learning how to rest.

God rested on the seventh day before sin even entered the world. Rest wasn’t created because people were exhausted. Rest was part of God’s original design. It’s actually a gift for us.

That’s such a beautiful reminder that slowing down isn’t laziness.

It’s wisdom.

The Most Important Habit of All

If you take one thing away from this post, let it be this:

You don’t need a perfect morning routine.

You don’t need every Bible study accessory.

You don’t need a perfect quiet time setup.

You simply need to make room for God.

Open your Bible.

Read a chapter.

Spend a few minutes with Him.

Then do it again tomorrow.

Because over time, those small daily moments become the foundation of a peaceful, faith-filled life.

What an experience! It was so beautiful and interesting. Filled with so much history, breathtaking architecture and weeds and nudity…

What a combination.

My family roots are 100% Dutch. It’s my grandparents home from both sides. It’s special to me and I loved being there. But the spiritual darkness that is there is real.

8 years ago I moved abroad to the US from Australi 8 years ago I moved abroad to the US from Australia.
And 2 months ago my husband, dog and I moved to Germany. 🇩🇪

So what’s next for us? ✨

-I am learning German, it’s hard so feel free to encourage me lol

-I won’t be able to work for a while so I’m LIVING IT UP (mostly with pastries)

-Aldrin has some interviews coming up for work (he is German so he can start working straight away)

-We are living with friends, in their built out attic and it has been the best way to start in a foreign country - instant community, pizza nights, bbq’s etc..

-We are loving being a part of a smaller Church, feels already like family

-In a few months we will start looking for our own place, which will make it feel real that this Country is home

-Attainable travel in Europe is a dream come true and I’ll be sharing it all!

-We feel so privileged and blessed to be living in our 3rd Country together 🇦🇺🇺🇸🇩🇪

-Big life transitions are hard (miss family and friends everyday) but thankfulness has been the key for us

-Lastly, Aldrins cousin made us a cake to welcome us here to Germany from Australia and then the US🥹 what is my life?!

THINGS I WISH I’D KNOWN BEFORE IMMIGRATING TO THE THINGS I WISH I’D KNOWN BEFORE IMMIGRATING TO THE USA 🇺🇸 FROM AUSTRALIA 🇦🇺
⬇️
-Marrying a permanent resident is NOT the same as marrying a US Citizen. It took me 2 years to be allowed back into the US. Marrying a citizen is much faster, knowing that in advance would have been helpful lol 😑

-Every state in the US is almost like a different Country, they have their own culture and laws, unlike Australia where they are much more similar

-Public transport is so different in the US (unless you live in a major City.) So many people I know there have never been on a train before 🤯

-Not having free medical insurance is just like in the movies, it’s hard to plan financially and save, I’ll forever be grateful for Australia’s medical system

-The work/life balance is probably my least favourite things about living in the US. US employees are actually not always legally entitled to paid holidays, but on average employees do provide on average around 5-10 paid vacation days a year.

-Thanksgiving is the best! We love it and want to incorporate it into our traditions 🦃

-Writing dates backwards I am used to now, but it took forever! My birthday is 28/7 but in the US it is 7/28…

-Americans are sO good at championing each other and celebrating peoples success, it’s such a beautiful part of their culture! 🙌🏼

-Squirels look just like they do in the cartoons 🐿️

-Lastly, don’t ask for a side of ‘chips’ with your burger, you will be disappointed 😆
