How to Make Money on Pinterest: The Beginner-Friendly Way to Start Digital Income.

by Alison

How to turn Pinterest into a paycheck

If you’ve been around here for more than two seconds, you already know I’m excited you’re here.

Because today we’re talking about one of my favorite topics:

How to make money on Pinterest.

And friend… if you’re still thinking Pinterest is just recipes, wedding inspiration, and pretty home decor, you’re about to look at it very differently.

Because Pinterest isn’t just a mood board.

It’s a search engine.

And for many people, it’s becoming a powerful way to build traffic, promote products, and create income online.

The best part?

You don’t need:

  • Thousands of followers
  • A huge audience
  • Daily social media posts
  • A fancy website
  • To show your face

You simply need a strategy.

Let’s dive in.

***This post might contain affiliate links, but it won’t cost you anything extra. I only recommend products that I know and love.***

Why Pinterest Is Different From Social Media

Most social media platforms reward constant posting.

Pinterest doesn’t.

Pinterest works more like Google.

People go to Pinterest and search for things like:

  • How to make money online
  • Passive income ideas
  • Pinterest affiliate marketing
  • Digital products to sell
  • Work from home jobs
  • Side hustles for women
  • Productivity tips

They’re not looking for entertainment.

They’re looking for solutions.

And that’s what makes Pinterest so powerful.

A pin you create today can continue bringing traffic weeks or even months from now.

Instead of chasing likes and followers, you’re creating content people are actively searching for.

How to make money on Pinterest for beginners

Can You Really Make Money on Pinterest?

YES.

But not because Pinterest pays you directly.

You make money by using Pinterest to send people to offers, products, services, and content that generate income.

Think of Pinterest as the traffic source.

The income happens when someone takes action after clicking.

How Pinterest Income Actually Works

One of the biggest misconceptions about Pinterest is that you need a blog to make money.

You don’t.

A blog can be a fantastic long-term strategy, but it’s only one option.

Pinterest’s real superpower is simple:

It sends people from Pinterest to something you want them to see.

That could be:

  • An affiliate product
  • A ShopMy page
  • A digital product
  • An Etsy listing
  • A Stan Store
  • A landing page
  • A freebie
  • An email list
  • A blog post

Think of Pinterest as the traffic source.

Your job is simply to decide where you want that traffic to go.

For example:

Option 1: Affiliate Marketing

Create a Pinterest pin

↓

Someone clicks

↓

They land on a product recommendation page

↓

They purchase

↓

You earn a commission

Option 2: Digital Products

Create a Pinterest pin

↓

Someone clicks

↓

They land on your product page

↓

They purchase

↓

You earn income

Option 3: ShopMy

Create a Pinterest pin

↓

Someone clicks

↓

They browse your recommendations

↓

They purchase

↓

You earn a commission

Option 4: Blogging

Create a Pinterest pin

↓

Someone clicks

↓

They read your article

↓

They click an affiliate link or product recommendation

↓

You earn income

The important thing to understand is this:

Pinterest is the traffic source.

How you choose to monetize that traffic is completely up to you..

All the ways you can make money online in 2026

7 Real Ways Beginners Make Money on Pinterest

1. Affiliate Marketing

This is one of the easiest ways to start.

You recommend products you genuinely believe in and earn a commission when someone purchases through your link.

Popular affiliate categories include:

  • Digital marketing tools
  • Productivity tools
  • Online courses
  • Blogging resources
  • Pinterest resources
  • Software subscriptions

You don’t need your own product.

You simply connect people with products that solve their problem.

*You can read more about Affiliate Marketing here.

2. Selling Digital Products

Pinterest users love:

  • Templates
  • Checklists
  • Planners
  • Workbooks
  • eBooks
  • Guides

Because Pinterest functions as a search engine, people are already looking for solutions.

Your product simply becomes the solution.

*You can read more about Digital Marketing here.

3. Promoting MRR Products

MRR stands for Master Resell Rights.

These are products you can purchase and legally resell while keeping the profits.

For beginners who don’t want to create a product from scratch, this can be a great starting point.

4. Driving Traffic to a Blog

This is one of my favorite methods.

Pinterest sends traffic to your blog.

Your blog contains:

  • affiliate links
  • digital products
  • email opt-ins
  • services

And that traffic can turn into income over time.

*You can read more about Blogging here.

5. Growing an Etsy Shop

Pinterest and Etsy work beautifully together.

People searching for:

  • printable planners
  • digital downloads
  • templates

often convert well because they’re already looking to buy.

6. Promoting Services

Pinterest can drive leads for:

  • virtual assistants
  • Pinterest managers
  • coaches
  • designers
  • freelancers

You don’t need a huge audience.

You simply need targeted traffic.

7. Building Multiple Income Streams

The most successful Pinterest creators rarely rely on one thing.

They combine:

  • affiliate marketing
  • digital products
  • email marketing
  • blogging
  • services

And Pinterest fuels the traffic.

How Beginners Make Their First $100 on Pinterest

Let’s keep this realistic.

Most people don’t make thousands overnight.

A more realistic goal is making your first $100.

Here’s what that might look like:

  • Create 20 keyword-focused pins
  • Link them to one helpful blog post
  • Recommend a relevant affiliate product
  • Continue posting consistently

If your pins start receiving clicks and a small percentage of visitors buy, you’ve created your first income stream.

Not because you went viral.

Because you built a system.

That’s the real power of Pinterest.

Common Pinterest Mistakes That Stop People From Making Money

Treating Pinterest like Instagram

Pinterest is search-driven.

Focus on keywords, not followers.

Posting random content

Pinterest rewards consistency and topic relevance.

Giving up too soon

Many pins take weeks or months to gain traction.

Not promoting an offer

Traffic without a monetization strategy doesn’t create income.

The Easiest Product to Start Promoting on Pinterest

If you’re looking for a beginner-friendly digital product to start with, I highly recommend the Pinterest Profit Blueprint.

It’s designed to help you understand Pinterest monetization while also giving you a product you can start selling immediately.

What makes it unique is that it includes Master Resell Rights.

That means you can:

  • sell it under your own brand
  • keep 100% of the profits
  • start promoting it on Pinterest right away

For beginners who want a simple starting point, it’s one of the easiest ways to get moving.

Need Help Creating Pinterest Content?

One of the biggest challenges when you’re starting on Pinterest is figuring out:

  • What should I post?
  • What keywords should I use?
  • How do I write pin titles?
  • How do I get more clicks?

A tool I’ve been using and loving lately is Maven.

Maven is a Pinterest strategy assistant bot that helps with things like:

  • Pinterest keyword ideas
  • Pin title creation
  • SEO-friendly pin descriptions
  • Content planning
  • Pinterest marketing strategies

What I personally like is that it simplifies Pinterest and helps you stop overthinking every pin.

If you’ve ever stared at Canva wondering what to create next, you’ll understand why I like having it in my corner.

And if you’re interested in affiliate marketing, Maven also has an affiliate program, which means it can become another potential income stream alongside your Pinterest strategy.

👉 Check out Maven here.

Your Simple Pinterest Income Plan

If you’re feeling overwhelmed, keep it simple, but I encourage you to START. Here are the exact instructions for you to start (under $50) today:

Step 1

Choose a product to promote. You can sell The Pinterest Profit Blueprint for 100% profit and you can also sell Maven Pinterest Bot for 70% commission.

To set these up ready to sell it’s easy. Just sign up for the free version of Beacons.ai – use this link to set it up now follow the prompts and it will set up your product links ready to sell. This is how I do it, and it is the simplest way.

PS. When you use the free version of Beacons.ai they will take a small percentage of the sale but for beginners it is still the best way to start.

Step 2

Create keyword-focused Pinterest content around that topic (Maven will walk you through this, you do not have to guess)

Step 3

Send traffic where you want it to go. If you have a blog, send the traffic from the pin to the blog post. If you have an online store like Beacons.ai, ShopMy or etsy, send them there.

Step 4

Stay consistent long enough for Pinterest to work (this is SUPER important – you must be patient for this to work)

That’s it!

No dancing.

No followers.

No showing your face.

No trying to become an influencer.

Just helpful content, strategic keywords, and a system that works while you’re living your life.

Pinterest has become one of my favorite ways to build online income because it feels sustainable, beginner-friendly, and realistic.

And if you’re willing to stay consistent, it can absolutely become part of your income strategy too.

You don’t need to know everything today.

You just need to start.

And Pinterest is one of the best places to do exactly that.

What an experience! It was so beautiful and interesting. Filled with so much history, breathtaking architecture and weeds and nudity…

What a combination.

My family roots are 100% Dutch. It’s my grandparents home from both sides. It’s special to me and I loved being there. But the spiritual darkness that is there is real.

Who else has been and what was your experience?

8 years ago I moved abroad to the US from Australi 8 years ago I moved abroad to the US from Australia.
And 2 months ago my husband, dog and I moved to Germany. 🇩🇪

So what’s next for us? ✨

-I am learning German, it’s hard so feel free to encourage me lol

-I won’t be able to work for a while so I’m LIVING IT UP (mostly with pastries)

-Aldrin has some interviews coming up for work (he is German so he can start working straight away)

-We are living with friends, in their built out attic and it has been the best way to start in a foreign country - instant community, pizza nights, bbq’s etc..

-We are loving being a part of a smaller Church, feels already like family

-In a few months we will start looking for our own place, which will make it feel real that this Country is home

-Attainable travel in Europe is a dream come true and I’ll be sharing it all!

-We feel so privileged and blessed to be living in our 3rd Country together 🇦🇺🇺🇸🇩🇪

-Big life transitions are hard (miss family and friends everyday) but thankfulness has been the key for us

-Lastly, Aldrins cousin made us a cake to welcome us here to Germany from Australia and then the US🥹 what is my life?!

THINGS I WISH I’D KNOWN BEFORE IMMIGRATING TO THE THINGS I WISH I’D KNOWN BEFORE IMMIGRATING TO THE USA 🇺🇸 FROM AUSTRALIA 🇦🇺
⬇️
-Marrying a permanent resident is NOT the same as marrying a US Citizen. It took me 2 years to be allowed back into the US. Marrying a citizen is much faster, knowing that in advance would have been helpful lol 😑

-Every state in the US is almost like a different Country, they have their own culture and laws, unlike Australia where they are much more similar

-Public transport is so different in the US (unless you live in a major City.) So many people I know there have never been on a train before 🤯

-Not having free medical insurance is just like in the movies, it’s hard to plan financially and save, I’ll forever be grateful for Australia’s medical system

-The work/life balance is probably my least favourite things about living in the US. US employees are actually not always legally entitled to paid holidays, but on average employees do provide on average around 5-10 paid vacation days a year.

-Thanksgiving is the best! We love it and want to incorporate it into our traditions 🦃

-Writing dates backwards I am used to now, but it took forever! My birthday is 28/7 but in the US it is 7/28…

-Americans are sO good at championing each other and celebrating peoples success, it’s such a beautiful part of their culture! 🙌🏼

-Squirels look just like they do in the cartoons 🐿️

-Lastly, don’t ask for a side of ‘chips’ with your burger, you will be disappointed 😆
