How to Start Making Passive Income With ShopMy Right Now

by Alison Leave a Comment

Shopmy a curated storefront for affiliate product recommendations

This post is exciting for me to write because I truly think it’s going to be a game changer for a lot of people! I am going to show you how to start making passive income with ShopMy right now!

The phrase ‘Passive Income’ is used wrong all the time. I laugh when people say that blogging or digital marketing are passive ways of making income, because I have spent so many hours on these! They have brought me income, which I am thankful for and parts of these income streams have become passive, but hardly anything is completely passive.

But one of the easiest and most realistic ways I think someone could start making passive income right now is something most people completely overlook:

Affiliate marketing with products you already genuinely love.

That’s why I want to talk about ShopMy.

Because if I were starting over today and wanted to build passive income online in a simple, realistic, and sustainable way… this is genuinely one of the first things I would set up.

Especially if:

  • you love sharing products
  • you already save things on Pinterest
  • you’re always sending links to friends
  • you love beauty, fashion, home, wellness, books, self-care, or lifestyle content
  • you want to make money online without showing your face constantly

This is one of those things that can start so small… and quietly grow into a real income stream over time.

And the best part?

You do not need to invent products.
You do not need thousands of followers.
You do not need to be an influencer with a blue checkmark.

You just need strategy.

***This post might contain affiliate links, but it won’t cost you anything extra. I only recommend products that I know and love.***

What Is ShopMy?

ShopMy logo
Shopmy a curated storefront for affiliate product recommendations

ShopMy is basically a platform where you can share affiliate links for products you genuinely use and love—and earn commission when people purchase through your links.

Think of it like creating your own curated online storefront.

You can create collections around:

  • skincare
  • fashion
  • cozy home finds
  • books
  • wellness
  • faith-based favorites
  • beauty products
  • travel essentials
  • Amazon finds
  • journaling supplies
  • “things I’m loving lately”

Honestly… it’s kind of perfect for girls who naturally love aesthetic lifestyle content.

The reason I love it is because I don’t have to apply for so many different affiliate programs anymore. I only promote brands I love that have partnered with ShopMy. So I can do everything in the app, without waiting for approval and logging into different programs.

And unlike some affiliate platforms that feel clunky or outdated, ShopMy feels modern, clean, and creator-friendly (super easy to use).

Why I Think ShopMy Is So Smart Right Now

People are already buying things online constantly.

The reality is: someone is going to influence those purchases.

Why shouldn’t it be you?

Especially if you’re already:

  • recommending products
  • posting Pinterest content
  • creating blogs
  • making TikToks
  • sharing routines
  • posting “favorites”
  • talking about beauty or fashion

You are already influencing people.

Most people just aren’t monetizing it yet.

But even if you aren’t doing any of the things above, you already influence people by recommending a good movie, favourite moisturizer, book etc. with friends and family. So why not add those things to a curated store front and promote it?

Honestly, this works especially well now because people trust recommendations from real people more than giant advertisements.

People want:

  • honest opinions
  • curated recommendations
  • lifestyle inspiration
  • trusted favorites

That’s exactly why affiliate marketing works.

If I Were Starting From Scratch, This Is Exactly What I’d Do:

Step 1: Create a ShopMy Account

Screenshopt of my ShopMy Profile!

First, I’d set up my ShopMy storefront and start organizing products into categories.

Not random chaos.

Intentional collections.

For example (these are some of mine):

  • Christian Girl Morning Routine
  • My Favorite Cozy Night Products
  • Summer Dresses I’d Wear on Repeat
  • Products That Help Me Feel More Productive
  • Beauty Products Worth the Hype
  • Journaling Essentials

This immediately makes your recommendations feel more valuable and curated.

People love organized inspiration.

I will share my referral link here to help you get in! So if you haven’t joined yet, use my referral link for faster approval:

CREATE YOUR OWN SHOPMY ACCOUNT HERE.

Step 2: Focus on Products People Already Search For

You can have a look at my ShopMy Storefront HERE. It will show you exactly how I have curated my store for what people are already searching for.

This is important.

You don’t want to just post random products nobody is looking for.

You want products people are actively searching for already.

Things like:

  • skincare
  • makeup
  • summer dresses
  • wellness products
  • journals
  • cozy home products
  • tech accessories
  • self-care items

This is why Pinterest works SO well with affiliate marketing.

People literally search:

  • “best skincare for glowing skin”
  • “modest summer dresses”
  • “Christian girl essentials”
  • “cozy bedroom ideas”
  • “Pinterest girl aesthetic”

The buying intent is already there.

Your job is simply connecting the person with the product.

Step 3: Use Pinterest (This Is the Part Most People Miss)

CLICK THIS IMAGE TO LEARN MORE ABOUT HOW TO GET STARTED WITH PINTEREST TODAY!

People just don’t understand how good Pinterest is!! I want to scream it from the rooftops! It’s NOT like social media. One pin can bring traffic for literally years and that’s why this can become passive, not something you have to scramble to do daily.

Like seriously, it’s free to use and it is the number 1 way many people are bringing traffic to their ShopMy storefront, blogs, Etsy storefront etc.

Because you can have the best blog, or the best curated ShopMy storefont, but if you don’t have traffic, you won’t get any eyes on your content, or make any money. Then what’s the point?

Instagram content lasts 24 hours or a couple of days if you go viral. But Pinterest content lasts.

A good pin can bring traffic for MONTHS or even YEARS.

That’s why this strategy is so powerful.

I would create:

  • blog posts
  • product roundups
  • Pinterest pins
  • curated recommendations

And then link my ShopMy collections naturally.

This is where affiliate income starts becoming passive.

You create the content once… and it keeps working for you.

That’s the beauty of Pinterest traffic.

PS. I wrote a post all about how to get started with Pinterest HERE.

The Type of Content I’d Create

Let’s keep things simple.

You do not need groundbreaking ideas.

You just need searchable, helpful content. Literally that’s it. Searchable, helpful content.

Examples:

  • “Beauty Products Worth the Money”
  • “My Favorite Cozy Christian Girl Essentials”
  • “Things That Make My Morning Routine Better”
  • “The Best Journals for Mental Health & Reflection”
  • “TikTok Beauty Products That Actually Work”
  • “Summer Dresses You’ll Wear on Repeat”
  • “Pinterest Girl Apartment Essentials”

Do you see the pattern?

Lifestyle content performs SO well because people are constantly searching for inspiration.

You Don’t Need a Huge Following

I really want to emphasize this because I think it stops so many people.

People think:
“I only have a small audience.”

But affiliate marketing is less about audience size and more about:

  • buyer intent
  • searchable content
  • trust

A smaller audience that trusts your recommendations can convert better than a huge audience that doesn’t care.

That’s why blogging + Pinterest + affiliate marketing (through ShopMy) works so well together.

Because your content keeps getting discovered.

Why Pinterest + ShopMy Is Such a Powerful Combination

This combination is honestly underrated.

Pinterest brings the traffic.
ShopMy monetizes the traffic.

That’s the strategy.

And Pinterest users are already in discovery mode.

They WANT recommendations.

Which means your content doesn’t feel intrusive.

It feels helpful.

That’s the difference.

I personally create most of my pins to go to my blog posts where my ShopMy affiliate links are naturally included (if you want to learn more about blogging, look here).

However, I also create 1-2 a day that are linked straight to products in my ShopMy store. So you don’t need a blog, but it does give you more income options.

There are 2 ways of doing this:

  1. Link your pin to a collection in ShopMy. Once they click the link they will go straight to your ShopMy collection that you created. For example, a pin might send them to my ‘Journaling essentials’ collection on ShopMy where they can see all the products I recommend for journaling. Then hen they click a product they are interested in it will take them straight to the products website. If they purchase, you get the commission.
  2. Link your pin to one item from your ShopMy store, for example I could create a pin on viral New Balance shoes. I would use my ShopMy link, but because it’s not a collection that I am linking it to, it would actually take the person straight to the products website – they wouldn’t land on your ShopMy store. But it would still be your ShopMy link that sent them to the exact product you linked. So if they purchase, you get the commission.

Another Income Stream I’d Add Alongside ShopMy

If I were building online income today, I would not rely on just one stream.

I’d combine affiliate marketing with digital products.

This is exactly why I love Create Faceless Wealth.

how to create faceless wealth online

It teaches over 12 different ways to make money online, especially for faceless creators.

And honestly, Pinterest traffic works beautifully for digital products.

You can use Pinterest to promote:

  • affiliate links
  • digital products
  • templates
  • guides
  • courses
  • printables

This creates much more income potential than relying on physical products alone. I have found this to be a huge incentive to my Pinterest because some physical products are only available in certain countries. However, digital products can be accessed by anyone anywhere!

Read more about Faceless Digital Marketing and Create Faceless Wealth in this blog post.

What I’d Avoid

If I’m honest, I think a lot of people fail with affiliate marketing because they:

  • spam links everywhere
  • recommend products they don’t even use
  • focus only on quick money
  • don’t create searchable content
  • quit too quickly

Affiliate marketing works best when it feels natural.

The goal is not:
“Buy this.”

The goal is:
“This genuinely improved my life, and I think you’d love it too.”

That energy converts so much better. This is not quick money. It will take time. Pinterest is a slow burn, but if you don’t give up you WILL see traffic come to your ShopMy store!

My Favorite Thing About This Type of Income

I think what I love most is that it grows slowly and sustainably.

One blog post turns into:

  • Pinterest traffic
  • affiliate clicks
  • email subscribers
  • passive income

One recommendation can keep working for months.

And honestly, there’s something really freeing about building income streams that don’t fully depend on trading your time for money every second.

Especially as women who want:

  • more freedom
  • more peace
  • more flexibility
  • more creativity
  • more time for what actually matters

That matters.

Final Thoughts

If I were starting over and wanted to build passive income online right now…

I would absolutely use ShopMy.

Especially paired with:

  • Pinterest
  • blogging
  • lifestyle content
  • affiliate marketing
  • digital products

Because it’s simple.
It’s realistic.
And it works incredibly well when you stay consistent.

You don’t need to become someone else.

You don’t need a massive audience.

You just need to start sharing intentionally.
That small decision could end up changing your entire income over time.

And 2 months ago my husband, dog and I moved to Germany. 🇩🇪

So what’s next for us? ✨

-I am learning German, it’s hard so feel free to encourage me lol

-I won’t be able to work for a while so I’m LIVING IT UP (mostly with pastries)

-Aldrin has some interviews coming up for work (he is German so he can start working straight away)

-We are living with friends, in their built out attic and it has been the best way to start in a foreign country - instant community, pizza nights, bbq’s etc..

-We are loving being a part of a smaller Church, feels already like family

-In a few months we will start looking for our own place, which will make it feel real that this Country is home

-Attainable travel in Europe is a dream come true and I’ll be sharing it all!

-We feel so privileged and blessed to be living in our 3rd Country together 🇦🇺🇺🇸🇩🇪

-Big life transitions are hard (miss family and friends everyday) but thankfulness has been the key for us

-Lastly, Aldrins cousin made us a cake to welcome us here to Germany from Australia and then the US🥹 what is my life?!

THINGS I WISH I’D KNOWN BEFORE IMMIGRATING TO THE THINGS I WISH I’D KNOWN BEFORE IMMIGRATING TO THE USA 🇺🇸 FROM AUSTRALIA 🇦🇺
⬇️
-Marrying a permanent resident is NOT the same as marrying a US Citizen. It took me 2 years to be allowed back into the US. Marrying a citizen is much faster, knowing that in advance would have been helpful lol 😑

-Every state in the US is almost like a different Country, they have their own culture and laws, unlike Australia where they are much more similar

-Public transport is so different in the US (unless you live in a major City.) So many people I know there have never been on a train before 🤯

-Not having free medical insurance is just like in the movies, it’s hard to plan financially and save, I’ll forever be grateful for Australia’s medical system

-The work/life balance is probably my least favourite things about living in the US. US employees are actually not always legally entitled to paid holidays, but on average employees do provide on average around 5-10 paid vacation days a year.

-Thanksgiving is the best! We love it and want to incorporate it into our traditions 🦃

-Writing dates backwards I am used to now, but it took forever! My birthday is 28/7 but in the US it is 7/28…

-Americans are sO good at championing each other and celebrating peoples success, it’s such a beautiful part of their culture! 🙌🏼

-Squirels look just like they do in the cartoons 🐿️

-Lastly, don’t ask for a side of ‘chips’ with your burger, you will be disappointed 😆
