Declarations that could change your life

Declarations that could change your life

MY JOURNEY WITH DECLARATIONS

I have been looking forward to posting this because it has helped me so much! Declarations that could change your life are worth looking into! I am excited to show you why they are important and how they will impact you. Some declarations are at the end. You can use them to get you started on your own declaration journey!

About 3 years ago I was having wine and cheese with my friend (isn’t that how all the best conversations start?!) and talking about how frustrated I was about how often I feel defeated and hopeless about situations. She asked me “what are you telling yourself about these things?” I thought, well normal things, like, “good probably won’t come out of it” and “I shouldn’t get my hopes up” etc. Then she said “well no wonder you are feeling like this!”

She went on to explain to me about how my thoughts and feelings were negative because I was constantly hearing myself declare the wrong things.

I realised that I meditate (think often about) the negative more then the positive and not just about things that have already happened, but about future events.

This started a journey, that I’m still on today. The journey of taking control of what I think about.

This is where declarations come in.

WHY DECLARATIONS ARE IMPORTANT

At University, I learnt a lot about how the brain worked and how it absorbs and starts to believe what it hears you say, which is why they encouraged us to read our texts out loud when we were studying.

Then when I went to Bible school (BSSM) we learnt about the power of speaking the truth (about what God is saying) out loud. Even if you don’t believe what you’re saying yet, your brain will start to believe it if it keeps hearing them. Declarations really can change your life!

For example, Someone in a marriage had very good self esteem and confidence in themselves. However, they started being told every day from their spouse that they are irritating or embarrassing. Now there is a very high chance that they will start to believe it, even if they didn’t believe it to start off with because they are hearing it so often. Words are sooo powerful!

THE POWER OF STRONGHOLDS

God created our brains with the ability to create strongholds so we can experience the joyful fruit of good beliefs. It is one of those things that God created for good. However, because the world became corrupt it has also been used for bad.

If we are aware of this, we can create positive strongholds by rehearsing experiences or things said to us that are positive.

I know declarations can feel like lies, especially when what you are stating out loud seems impossible or even kind of dumb. However, declarations are powerful when said in faith. Because faith has the ability to see something how it is meant to be, and speak it into being.

So over the years I have experimented and researched about declarations. I have discovered the power of speaking life into my thoughts and I wanted to share what I have learnt. It really does have the ability to change your life and the way you think!

HOW DECLARATIONS WILL IMPACT YOU

Proverbs 18:21 says; “The tongue has the power of life and death. Those who love it will eat it’s fruit.” After I read this verse I decided to always try to speak on purpose. Everything I say has the power to uplift someone or to bring them down. I want to change circumstances in a positive way only.

I discovered that we could use declarations to speak a ‘good word’ to ourselves. This changes our emotions from fear to Joy!

Our emotions are based on our belief system. Therefore, when I am feeling fear or discouragement I have learnt to ask myself “what am I believing about this situation?”

(Remember what we believe we usually speak out loud). When we find out what we believe we need to speak the truth over the situation.)

“Anxiety in the heart of man causes depression, but a good word makes it glad.” (Proverbs 12:25.)

Thanksgiving is also a powerful form of declaration because thanksgiving creates a life protected by peace.

“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, let your requests be known to God; and the peace of God which surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:6-7.)

OUR TONGUE IS A RUDDER

One time I was praying for something quite significant. I could see which direction I wanted my life to go. However, it felt like I was praying out of a place of fear. I was not believing that my prayers were making a difference.

Then I felt God show me that Declarations actually direct our lives toward what we speak. He showed me this verse “Look also at ships. Although they are so large and are driven by fierce winds, they are turned by a very small rudder whenever the pilot desires. Even so the tongue” (James 3:4-5).

I believed that God was showing me that our words are a rudder. This rudder causes us to go in the direction in which we speak. So I thought about where I want my life to be in 5 years. When I imagined it I began to declare it so that my life would be directed towards that.

SPEAK YOURSELF INTO EXCITEMENT AND HOPE

I started saying that I would have a successful blog before I ever started writing. I speak over our finances, health, relationships, faith and purpose. When I declare these things and hear myself say them out loud I am filled with Hope. Faith and anticipation come as I can see these things coming to pass.

It’s hard to explain the feeling I get when I constantly declare the most exciting and positive things over my circumstances. It empowers me to become more aware of God’s heart for our future and nothing feels more hopeful then that! Declarations can change your life!

“He who would love life and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips from speaking deceit” (1 Peter 3:10).

This verse is basically saying that the key to living a good life is to control your speech. This doesn’t mean holding yourself back from speaking negative things. Instead to purposefully choose to speak positive, outrageous blessings over your life. Declarations that could change your life are truly is in the power of the tongue!

DECLARATIONS YOU CAN USE TODAY

I have a list of declarations on my phone that I bring out whenever I am feeling down, anxious, worried or sad. In the mornings I also have a list of declarations that I speak to get me in the right frame of mind for my day.

Speaking bible verses out loud are also very powerful and a good reminder of God’s promises.

Here are a few examples of declarations that I use often in my life:

-I have unshakeable Joy that is not dependent on how I feel or what’s going on around me.

-God’s favour, love and goodness is attracted to my family.

-I love outrageously well no mater how I am feeling.

-Peace reigns in me so worry, anxiety and fear cannot stay.

-I am kept in perfect peace because I trust in God.

-Today is going to be a good day because Jesus lives in me.

-I walk in ever increasing health.

-God richly supplies all my needs so I don’t have to worry.

-I have great strategies and ideas for every area of my life.

-Our future is blessed and our deepest desires will be fulfilled in ways we can’t even imagine.

-I will raise powerful world changers who will feel safe and loved in our family.

START USING DECLARATIONS TODAY!

Declarations that could change your life are available for you. My life has been changed and yours will too, especially your thoughts; they have to because that’s how God designed our brains to work.

Jesus loves us and wants us to take authority over our thought life, because our thoughts are where everything starts.

I encourage you to write at least 10 declarations that are significant to you. Speak them out loud every single day! Do it for an entire month and see the difference!

Some items I have found helpful on my journey with Declarations:

–This Book by Steve Backlund is very easy to read, and it will go a little more in depth about Declarations, why they are so powerful and the Biblical side to them. I highly recommend!

–Scripture Shareables are great to have in your handbag to pull out when you need them. Declaring scriptures are very powerful.

–This Journal is my favorite to use for Declarations because it is so affordable and can be personalized, so you can create the title exactly how you want it. Writing your own personal declarations is nice to have all in one journal so that you can read back over them.

AMSTERDAM 🌷🇳🇱 What an experience! It was AMSTERDAM 🌷🇳🇱
What an experience! It was so beautiful and interesting. Filled with so much history, breathtaking architecture and weeds and nudity…

What a combination.

My family roots are 100% Dutch. It’s my grandparents home from both sides. It’s special to me and I loved being there. But the spiritual darkness that is there is real.

Who else has been and what was your experience?

8 years ago I moved abroad to the US from Australi 8 years ago I moved abroad to the US from Australia.
And 2 months ago my husband, dog and I moved to Germany. 🇩🇪

So what’s next for us? ✨

-I am learning German, it’s hard so feel free to encourage me lol

-I won’t be able to work for a while so I’m LIVING IT UP (mostly with pastries)

-Aldrin has some interviews coming up for work (he is German so he can start working straight away)

-We are living with friends, in their built out attic and it has been the best way to start in a foreign country - instant community, pizza nights, bbq’s etc..

-We are loving being a part of a smaller Church, feels already like family

-In a few months we will start looking for our own place, which will make it feel real that this Country is home

-Attainable travel in Europe is a dream come true and I’ll be sharing it all!

-We feel so privileged and blessed to be living in our 3rd Country together 🇦🇺🇺🇸🇩🇪

-Big life transitions are hard (miss family and friends everyday) but thankfulness has been the key for us

-Lastly, Aldrins cousin made us a cake to welcome us here to Germany from Australia and then the US🥹 what is my life?!

THINGS I WISH I’D KNOWN BEFORE IMMIGRATING TO TH THINGS I WISH I’D KNOWN BEFORE IMMIGRATING TO THE USA 🇺🇸 FROM AUSTRALIA 🇦🇺
⬇️
-Marrying a permanent resident is NOT the same as marrying a US Citizen. It took me 2 years to be allowed back into the US. Marrying a citizen is much faster, knowing that in advance would have been helpful lol 😑

-Every state in the US is almost like a different Country, they have their own culture and laws, unlike Australia where they are much more similar

-Public transport is so different in the US (unless you live in a major City.) So many people I know there have never been on a train before 🤯

-Not having free medical insurance is just like in the movies, it’s hard to plan financially and save, I’ll forever be grateful for Australia’s medical system

-The work/life balance is probably my least favourite things about living in the US. US employees are actually not always legally entitled to paid holidays, but on average employees do provide on average around 5-10 paid vacation days a year.

-Thanksgiving is the best! We love it and want to incorporate it into our traditions 🦃

-Writing dates backwards I am used to now, but it took forever! My birthday is 28/7 but in the US it is 7/28…

-Americans are sO good at championing each other and celebrating peoples success, it’s such a beautiful part of their culture! 🙌🏼

-Squirels look just like they do in the cartoons 🐿️

-Lastly, don’t ask for a side of ‘chips’ with your burger, you will be disappointed 😆
